The Cyclers.

Monterey has the cycling craze, and it has it bad. Three machines have been imported in one week and as many more new riders appeared on the road. The purchasers of the new wheels are Messrs Frank Kessel, Frank Pierce and Fred Kammeuler, Fred is an old rider but like the balance he lately purchased a new Victor and is now in the swim.

Sunday last the cyclists, (about ten of them) met in Dr. Smith's office for the purpose of organizing a local club. Mr. Frank Kessel was elected Chairman and Mr. Fred Kammeuler secretary. After discussing matters relative to organization, uniforms, etc., it was decided to name it the "Monterey Bicycle Club," and to meet again on Sunday next for permanent organization. There are now nearly twenty wheels, in Monterey and Pacific Grove, and runs will be in order. Several Pneumatic tired wheels have been ordered and before long the number of cyclists will be greatly increased.
