BICYCLE TOURNAMENT.

A Big Meet to Be Held at the Pavilion Next Month.

Preliminary arrangements for the monster bicycle tournament to be held at the Mechanics' Pavilion next month are well under way. R. A. Irving, manager of the Tournament Association, is hard at work superintending the plans for suitably altering the pavilion. A track, eight laps to the mile, will be built of tongue and groove lumber under the personal supervision of Mr. Elwell, who arranged the ring at the horse show and constructed the Bay City cycling track at Central Park.

The show will be run on the lines of the tournament to be held at Chicago, commencing on the 7th inst.

Free space will be given all makers who wish to exhibit their wheels, and from the present prospect it is a certainty that the display will include the latest and most important inventions in the cycling world. The tournament will open on February 18th and close on the 22d. The main event will be the meet which is to take place on Washington's birthday. Negotiations are now pending to secure the great world beater, A. A. Zimmerman. As yet nothing definite has been accomplished in this matter, but it is almost a certainty that the champion will appear at the show.

A silver cup valued at $200 will be given to the club making the best appearance.
