NOISELESS WHEELS.
Racing at Central Park Track - The San Francisco Club.
There will be several impromptu races this afternoon at the Bay City Wheelmen's new track, Central Park.
This will be the last day in which wheelmen who are not members of the club can enjoy the privileges of the track.
President Whitmore expects to see a large gathering of riders on the grounds, and it will afford him much pleasure to have the opinions of the wheelmen from different parts of the State as to the track and what they think of it when compared with other racing tracks. All those who have ridden on it state that the Bay Citys have struck the nail on the head, and that at the July meeting coast records are bound to go under.
The club will, in all probability, do away with the old system of numbering riders at race meetings. Instead of numbers sashes of divers colors will be worn by the contestants.
Owing to the speed wheelmen travel when contesting for prizes the spectators have found it a rather difficult matter to discern one rider from another by the system of numbers, unless personally acquainted with them. Sashes, however, can be seen, no matter how fast the wheelmen are going, and the colors worn by the different riders will appear on the programme immediately opposite their names.
It was reported a few days ago that the San Francisco Bicycle Club had become an andex to the Olympic Club. Captain McArthur states that this report is premature, but that the San Franciscos may be annexed to the club in the near future,
